Dr. Voraporn Chaikitmongkol is a vitreoretinal surgeon and medical retina specialist. She received her medical degree in 2005 and ophthalmology degree in 2010 from Chiang Mai University, Thailand. Following her vitreoretinal fellowship training in 2011, she subsequently joined the faculty at the Department of Ophthalmology, Chiang Mai University. In 2012, Dr. Chaikitmongkol did her post-doctoral clinical research fellowship at the Retina Division, Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (USA); medical retina training with Professor Neil M. Bressler and Professor Susan B. Bressler (2012-2014), and visual neurophysiology training with Professor Hendrik P.N. Scholl (2013-2014). Her research interest involves the diagnosis and treatments of polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy, and novel retinal imaging modalities. Dr. Chaikitmongkol has received the Japanese Ophthalmological Society International Young Investigator Award 2019 for the research titled “Color Fundus Photography, Optical Coherence Tomography, and Fluorescein Angiography in Diagnosing Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy” published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology. Dr. Chaikitmongkol is currently an Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology at Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai, Thailand.
